James Hildebrandt, DO, was named Vice President of Medical Affairs at Sarah Bush Lincoln on Friday. He assumes the role as Ned Hoppin, MD, retires on Oct. 5. Dr. Hoppin has served in this role for four years.
SBL President and CEO Tim Ols said in making the announcement that Dr. Hildebrandt was selected following an interview process, which included medical staff and administrative members in the Health System. “Dr. Hildebrant is recognized widely as a leader among the medical staff who has held several leadership positions over the years. We have universal confidence in him and are excited to welcome him in his new role.”
Dr. Hildebrant, who developed the Hospitalist program, serves as its medical director, and has grown the program to include six hospitalists in nearly two years. The growth of this program has had a tremendous positive effect on medical staff recruitment, as well as creating additional primary care openings in office schedules. He also serves as the medical director of the Occupational Health program.
Dr. Hildebrandt will continue in his current role over the next year to two years as he transitions into the VP of Medical Affairs role full time. Ols added, “We are especially happy to be able to fill this important position internally with a physician who already understands how our organization operates and who is deeply committed to the mission and values of it.”
Dr. Hildebrandt began at Sarah Bush Lincoln in 1996 as an Emergency Medicine physician caring for people in the ER.
