Commercial Electric Inc. in Mattoon recently made a $20,000 donation to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation to benefit the new Hospice House, now under construction on the hospital’s main campus. A plaque recognizing their gift will be placed at the entrance to a private patient suite once construction of the 14,470 square-foot facility is complete late next summer.

“We’re so grateful to Mark O’Dell, Megan O’Dell and the Commercial Electric team for this incredible donation,” said Amy Card, Foundation Director. “Our hospice house will be ideal for those nearing the end of their lives and this gift will truly help so many families make final memories in a peaceful, home-like place.”

Construction of the $11.4 million house began in early September. The SBL Health Foundation, together with a campaign committee, hopes to raise a minimum of $1 million to offset costs of construction and $1.5 million to fund an endowment. Earnings from the endowment will be used to help those who can’t afford their stay in the hospice house.

“Hospice touches every family at some point, including ours, and to have a hand in bringing comfort to families as they go through a very emotional time is important to us,” said Megan O’Dell, President of Commercial Electric. “We’re proud to give back to the community through this donation.”
